On Dec 5, 2020, Honors College (HC) held a meeting to review the first 100 days of the 1st-year undergraduate students in the college. The vice president of NPU, Professor Yang Yixin and the management team members of HC, led by the dean, Professor Wang Yangang, and the secretary of the CPC Committee of HC, HC Mr. Zhang Wentao, were present. The purpose of the meeting was mainly to learn the feedback of students about the university and the college, not only their study but also their lives in NPU.
Students talked about their feelings in the college as freshmen, introduced their experiences in learning, getting engaged with contest and other programs. How they adapted themselves to the new environment which was very different from that in the middle school, was also shared, including difficulties and challenges they have confronted with. Students were actively finding different ways to adjust their way of thinking, learning and managing the personal life more independently, in order to achieve a fruitful university life for the coming years.
Professor Yang Yixin explained the target of cultivating talents in NPU, analyzing the different focuses at the different phases for students to build the capability, encouraged students to improve the team work, explore the potentiality to a full extent and improve the competence by working harder, smarter and braver, eventually to become talents meeting the needs of the country and the society.
Students were highly motivated and had strong beliefs that they could make their university life more meaningful and successful by devoting themselves to improving competence from all aspects.
