The ninth DREAMLAND English Corner was held in the evening of 7 May in the hall of the Honors College. The English corner attracted dozens of students to participate in. Students quickly found their peers to communicate in English and share their recent experience of life and study.
In this English corner students started with the discussions about their interesting experiences during the Labors’ Day and other topics. In order to encourage all students to get involved into the discussions better, students are divided into six groups and each group had a free discussion with a topic selected and a final group sharing session. The students all expressed their views and made their friends while sharing unforgettable parts of their own lives.
During the group presentations, students talked about their favorite English movies and the reasons of the popularity of the movies; shared their story that how roommates improved their relationship by playing games with their smart phones together during the spare time; introduced various ways to initiate and deepen conversations with strangers or classmates through real-life examples; replayed the small funny battle with rats in the living rooms, which all made participants of the English corner smile or laugh.
The DREAMLAND English Corner provides a good platform for students to communicate in English, where students turned to be more open-minded, sociable and also could learn from each other. It is believed that in the future, the event can be more attractive to more students and adjusted better to their needs.
