On April 23rd, the weekly Dreamland English Corner warmly received participants again in Honors College. Nearly 30 students came to join the English Corner regardless of the heavy rain outside of the building. The topics of this week were“Please share one of books/stories/films that you recently have read”,“Please share your‘to-do’list (travelling, sports, music, etc.) for your university life and explain your plans, actions and progress for implementing the list accordingly”, “Please share the regrets that you have had so far in the university”.
Li Yi, the Oral English teacher from an education organization, was invited to attend the English corner. She introduced the Bingo game to inspire students’ enthusiasm for speaking English. The bingo game’s rule is that you need to ask various people various questions to fill the blanks in a form. Once you finish five blanks in a row or in a column, then bingo! Students walked around and talked to others in English in order to collect useful information and fill their blanks.
The questions in the bingo game enabled students to talk in English and get familiar with each other soon. All students found it easier to start with a conversation and make new friends. The English corner ended with a group photo taken for the bingo game players. Everyone seemed happy with the communication in English.
