International Cooperation with UBC was Further Explored

On Dec 8, 2020, an online meeting was held between the staff of Honors College (HC) and the Professor from University of British Columbia (UBC). Ms. Yuan Yun, the deputy dean of the college, and Ms. Wei Xiaodong, the secretary of international affairs from NPU reviewed the ongoing cooperation between HC and UBC and discussed the future cooperation.

Professor Ray Taheri-Ardebili from UBC reviewed the long-term friendship between himself and HC, UBC and NPU, which started a few years ago. Professor Taheri shared the videos and pictures of HC students’ Summer Camp in UBC in 2019, which turned to be a very valuable life experience for NPU students. UBC people were also impressed by the hard-working, smart and friendly NPU students. Both sides discussed the impact of the epidemic of this year and reviewed the successful on-line course collaborated and completed this year. The course of  “Engineering Design” taught by Professor Taheri for HC students was just finished last month, and more international courses from UBC which could be introduced into HC were further explored in the meeting.  Students from UBC come to NPU as the teaching assistants for the future international courses was also considered.

Th cooperation between HC and UBC is not limited by courses. The Summer Camp in 2021 is also addressed and planned to continue if the epidemic is gone.

Professor Taheri states that UBC welcomes the 3rd year undergraduate students of NPU to apply for the 4th year study in UBC for their graduation project, and continue the Master-degree program in UBC.

University of British Columbia (UBC) is a word-famous university, consistently ranks among the top 20 public universities in the world and recently is recognized as North America’s most international university. HC is making efforts on building more collaboration with UBC.
