On Friday evening, May 28, the twelfth DREAMLAND English Corner was held in the hall of the Honors College as scheduled. Students had discussions about global warming, Mars exploration and Internet communication, etc.
Tim Kingham, the foreign teacher from the School of Foreign language and a few other teachers also attended the event. Participants communicated about China and Western culture and customs, and also discussed about their study on the development aerospace engineering.
Students also played Go, gobang and chess games and learn how to explain game rules correctly in English. Students from other schools, such as School of Power and Energy and School of Automation also joined the English Corner to practice and improve their oral English. The open and happy atmosphere and the fun of playing Games make all participants very enjoyable.
Wangzhuo, one of the participants from School of Power and Energy agreed that attending English corner was a good way to improve the oral English capability. He and his classmates appreciated that Honors College offered this platform for them to make friends, enhance cultural awareness and strengthen the global competence.
The English Corner has been held successfully for 12 times since this semester, which has had a substantial impact on improving students' critical thinking and communication ability.
