On Friday evening, May 21, the eleventh DREAMLAND English corner was held at the Honors College Building. Due to the arrival of the exam season, less students were avle to come and join, but it does not reduce students’ enjoyment of participating this event.

In order to encourage and offer more opportunities to students to improve their English ability, HC invited oral language teachers to communicate with students together in English. Besides, international students introduced  a Pattern Recognition card game to other students for improving the observation ability and testing IQ somehow. The game  rules were explained and clarified among students: the one who  find the three characteristics in each of three cards either are the same or totally different in the shortest time can get a score. Students played the game while communicating in English.

Teachers also prepared some topics that students often are interested in, such as "how to talk to strangers", " your interests and hobbies", "how to create a good habits" and so on. Liu Kehui, one of the HC students described his favorite science fiction--the Three-Body Problem in detail and shared his views about the novel in English with others.

The activity lasted nearly two and a half hours. Participants were still reluctant to leave English corner. As one of the main activities to improve the students' global competence this semester, the DREAMLAND English Corner had been held for 11 times successfully by now. Each week participants discuss about interesting topics, play their favorite games, watch videos and give their talent performance. This event encourages more to come and dare to speak English bravely and turns to be one of the most favorite regular events for HC students and students from other colleges.
