On March 19, the third Dreamland English corner was held in the lobby of Honors College Building, hosted by the deputy dean of HC, Yuan Yun. Ms Yuan stimulated students ' enthusiasm of learning and applying English, at the same time promoted the development of the internationalization of Honors College. A total of more than 80 undergraduates from different colleges and different grades, including international students, participated in this activity and had interesting discussions.
The students gathered at the lobby of Honors College and actively talked with people around them. This week's English Corner includes three themes: ‘The advantages and disadvantages of studying abroad’, ‘The research projects that you have participated and what are the major learning points for you’ and ‘How do you adjust yourself when you are under the pressure’. Apart from these topics, students also talked about other topics which they are interested in. The 2-hour English corner event went to the climax when the collective singing "When You" was performed by students. The students sang the familiar song loudly together in a relaxed and happy atmosphere.
The third English corner continues the success of the past. The students' passions on improving their oral English corner are continually increasing"The English corner improved my English and social skills. Through talking with classmates, I learned how to reduce the pressure of study and have a deeper understanding of studying abroad." said Flame, one of the participants.
Many of students shared the same feelings as Flame. The establishment of the English Corner offers students who are not good at expressing themselves in English a chance to improve. By communicating with peers, they have deepened their understanding of the internationalization concept of Honors College, and at the same time have set a clearer plan for their future development.
