On February 5th, the International Education Online Sharing Session was held by Honors College, with over three hundred students and teachers joining in. The meeting was hosted by Ms. Yuan Yun, the deputy dean of the College and coordinated by Ms. Wei Xiaodong, the secretary of international affairs. Mr. Hou Xiaorui, who has rich experience overseas of study and work, was invited to give all students a detailed description of the new opportunities that studying abroad brings us under the new situation. The following is a detailed report.
The online sharing report included two parts: the experience sharing from Mr. Hou and the question-and-answer session. During the first part, Mr. Hou presented three examples, which are the mystery of the Jet Propulsion Laboratory and academician Qian Xuesen, the study life of an overseas student and the experience of a successful doctoral student. He also emphasizes the importance of getting prepared early to win the precious opportunity to go abroad, what we need in not simply GPA and papers, but the abilities to work as a team, to solve specific problems, to research further to the unknown. Through Mr. Hou's patient explanations, students realized the profound significance of studying abroad for their competitiveness, and could rationally understand the opportunities and risks of studying abroad under the new epidemic situation.
At the end of the meeting, students eagerly asked questions, Mr. Hou answered questions of students with patient, which eases our concerns on applying for foreign universities and studying abroad. It is also believed that this conference can enhance the confidence of the students of the college to study abroad, and encourage more students with excellent comprehensive quality to view their future development path with a broader vision.
